Recurring Complexes and Far Reaches

Beyond the monolithic, all-solid clump that makes up the average personality is an astonishing array of energy and force-of-will intricately and intimately involved with the private and public spaces of universes.

The connections between these viewpoints and interactions make a map of ebbs, nuances, flows, channels, interconnections, efforts and energies. The map reflects territories never exposed to normal human exchange. It includes layers of possible reality, actual reality, views as self, views from others’ viewpoints, layers and arrays of decayed, sub-aware life energy embedded in various dramatizations, complete packages of organization, demand, noise, reflections and copies of reflections of both own and others, etc., etc., etc.

Addressing the current life, current identity, current responsibility of a human being is a shallow step but one that cannot be left out. It pays, though, to be aware that that surface we think of as Bubba Joe is being informed at conscious and ignored levels from here to Hades and back, a chorale of impressive weight in the background.
In a similar way, a PR man will present only the tip of what really goes on in a company and will pitch a product without talking about the internal politics, the feelings of the boss’ wife, the lawsuit filed by a competitor or the tragedy of James getting canned by a curmudgeonly boss in the marketing division. Similarly, we see, in an average human’s presentation, a layer of communication and consideration which is filtered and modulated in order to create some small positive effect on those around him. This does not mean that the real weight of his choices will align with what he seems to be.

There is a positive side to this story as well. When designing by intentional postulate how one will exist in the world, one can design and build a far more effective universe for oneself if he takes the farther reaches as much into account as the local present-time-only tip of the iceberg part of his persona. In other words, if you are going to create yourself, do it deep and far, and the presentation to the world will take care of itself. Trying to re-paint the persona on the surface, with nice affirmations, thinking right thoughts, or praying to anyone other than yourself, is likely to be a skin-deep sort of job at best, with little enduring gain in it for anyone.

Dead Energies

The current communications across the different facets of life including one’s internal dialog, chats with Gramps, love-letters from a sales trip, worries about the new Alsatian or a dripping faucet, etc., are all ebbing and flowing in our ordinary days, some more vivaciously than others, but all in a relatively alive sort of way. The deeper chasms of unknowing on which some of this superstructure is built contains energies which are not shifting and flowing but are moribund, rigid, solid, cold, black, unfeeling and hard to feel, unknowing and hard to know. Within these rigid clumps, ridges, trails of dead energy and the like one can find some very bizarre thoughts, if one bothers to pour enough energy into them to wake them from their moribund condition. While they are essentially re-creatable or reactivatable, their current condition is somewhat rock-like or tar-like, psychically speaking. But it will behoove the individual encountering these phenomena to remember that their tensions, their occluded emotions, and their bizarre irrationalities do in fact impinge on the individual and inform his more current sense of choice, information, affinity and action. Dead though these energies may appear they can still create considerable force of thought, feeling, sensation or pain on the totality known as a human being.

The technology for addressing these phenomena is under development and will be effective in releasing them.

The Photon Riders

The use and the rôle of light in the exercise of awareness in the physical universe are of great interest. Historically, a great deal of strange practice has built up around “seeking the light”, “bathing in light”, or mythologizing certain phenomena that are called “light”. We use the word enlightening to describe new increases of awareness and say that someone very aware is enlightened, and so on. In some research evidence has been found that the use of light as a sort of imprisoning or hypnotizing factor (which fixates the attention and bonds consciousness to the electromagnetic spectrum range of frequency) has been recorded.

The pulse transfer rate of light itself appears to be a lock on the understanding of energy; it seems mystifying that radio pulses and gamma rays and different colors of light, all being different frequencies, should transfer from one space to another at something around 3x10^8 meters per second. It violates one’s sense that space is contiguous (which is a very deeply-held belief which keeps the universe from coming unglued).

Aside from the fact that light is a wonderful thing to fool around with and make shadow plays out of (oh ye gods, take note) the constant hammering of visual frequencies does take a toll. The price is habituation. We gradually identify light as the medium of all seeing; and in so doing we subscribe to our own captivation with this corner of Creation, and make homebodies of ourselves. Like old and tired folks unsure of their bladder control, we rock in the one corner we know is safe - the light-informed section, where the photon frequencies rule.

Another peculiarity of this habit is that light in the material universe, as a common energy, acts like awareness itself. It is a cliché to discuss “bright” ideas, and “the light going on” and “being in the dark about...” as though the energy and perception were closely allied things. There is a parallelism between light (as an energy) and enlightenment (awareness per se) in our language and our thinking that has some really odd roots. Either the material universe was designed as a poor copy of the blazing play of awareness in the spaces of Will; or we are captives of brain-waves from the start and the whole thing of seeking greater awareness is a silly game.

Which do you think?

Here is an experiment. Assume a sphere of Being greater than your body by expanding your awareness outward to a large area and imagining yourself occupying the entire space of that sphere. Then imagine yourself flooding light into the body from all directions simultaneously. Then imagine yourself receiving floods of light from the body, outward in all directions toward You. Try the ebb and flow and focus on whichever feels more comfortable (flowing in toward the body or receiving flow from it). When you are comfortable with that sphere, try making light floods in other dimensions beyond the sphere around the body, either in the material universe as you perceive it, or in any other space which shows up for consideration.

Another experiment: close your eyes and imagine streams of visual perception flowing from them to the world around you, as though you were emanating your own visual power, rather than simply receiving it from the physical universe.

These experiments and others like them produce changes in perception, oddly enough. They may be great or small, but there are changes in perception. So why do you think this is? What’s the relationship?

Ride the photons of the universe for a moment. Then find some other frequency to become addicted to. Find one you prefer. Ride it into the sunrise, laughing at the inadequacies of light itself. I offer you this with love from a being to a being. Enjoy.

Laws of Spiritual Engineering

The business and goal of spiritual engineering is to reverse spiritual decline in individuals and groups and restore spiritual ability. Spiritual abilities include those abilities which cannot be emulated mechanically - they include such abilities as compassion, understanding, the power of will, the sense of justice, aesthetics, and creative power.

These abilities in an individual become suppressed through confusion, spiritual abuse, emotional abuse and physical abuse. These abuses can occur on many vectors, the most fundamental of them being self-to-self. The vectors of communication and action among beings such as others to self and self to others are similarly intimately intertwined with the stages of reduction in ability.

Spiritual engineering, then, is the body of knowledge which brings about improved dynamics of spiritual ability. It should be acknowledged from the outset that calling it “engineering”, which derives from the word “engine”, meaning a device of mechanical power. The implication is that some kind of collapse between mechanics and ability, machinery and spirituality, is occurring.

But engineering derives from an older and nobler concept. In Middle English the word engin originally meant skill, the talent which brought early machines into existence. And earlier still, in old French, the word meant innate ability. There is some etymological research indicating that the earlier root is found in an Indo-European form of gen-yo, which attaches to concepts of procreative divinity, inborn tutelary spirit, and innate quality. So spiritual engineering has an appropriate claim to integrity by reference to its most fundamental origins. It is the subject of bringing out the strengths and restoring the sovereignty of the individual spirit.

Spiritual engineering is a subject that entails a great deal of understanding of the fundamental factors and basic mechanisms by which the individual spirit engineers himself into the more limited and mechanistic forms popular as identities today. The reason these fundamentals are vital is because there is an endless array of apparent form to people, and an infinite amount of content which varies from individual to individual. But the constants - the factors which can be used in engineering - are in most cases not obvious. If you did not have a concept of a law of gravity, for a simple example, you might think that every object that fell was behaving on the whim of the gods or out of some sort of individual choice. The ability to abstract from a wide array of apparent phenomena - things all over keep falling - and from them derive a workable conceptual framework that can be used in engineering - gravity is a field force which accelerates mass at approximately 10 meters per second squared - is a hard-won trick in Western history. It is easily misunderstood, resulting in rituals of science which meet public standards and are anemic as achievements.

The point, though, is that there are fundamentals on the issue of the human spirit, things which can be said to apply to all cases found as general laws. Some of them are known, and some of them are yet to be discovered. In this respect, spiritual engineering parallels any other kind of engineering, building from the knowledge we have and discovering the knowledge we do not yet have. Just as building engineers do not know, yet, how to put an anti-mass toque on a building to make it earthquake proof, but are using what they know about springs, levers, and other factors to make them more so, so with spiritual engineers and the human beings with whom they work. Note the preposition with, not “on”.

Spiritual engineering is the art of facilitating the liberation of the individual human spirit, bringing it from states of not-knowing, not-feeling, not-aware, and not-able, to states of awareness, knowingness, ability and feeling. It is primarily and predominantly an educational activity involving the examination of data, assumptions, individual ability to deal with data, and the understanding of how data is created. In addressing these issues it also has consequences in other fields, such as psychosomatic vulnerability and resistance, group sanity, the dynamics of society at large, and so on. This is a natural consequence of addressing the spiritual zone which other things essentially derive from.

But it is absolutely, in its origins and in its applications, a spiritual and educational activity.

It is of extreme importance to understand that it is not and should not be thought of in relation to any prior school of psychology, psychiatry, religion, medicine, or spiritism. It has nothing to do with Blavatsky, Freud, the American Psychological Association, Rogers, Piaget, Thor, wicca, God or the angels. It has to do with human men and women of good will seeking to learn, understand, discover and restore their own spiritual nature. If in the course of doing so they encounter some of the phenomena that have been previously contacted (and possibly mangled) by some earlier subject or research, that is natural enough in the nature of understanding more about human life and complexity.

Ordinary Human Advices

In all this high-flown study of aware will and the mechanisms used by Consciousness to create their world, it is healthy once in a while to come back to the ordinarily human. Are there guidelines for the simply human life worth holding on to through all the phases and turbulences to which any life is subject? The following are suggested as possible touchstones to incorporate into your architecture:

Communicate about your values. Talk about the use and benefit of:
• honesty,
• courage,
• belief in service
• faith in the universe
• hope for the future
• intentional enthusiasm
• love as a basis for strength in action with those you love, those you depend on, those you’re near to and those you trust.

Seek opportunity and use it. Initiative and resourcefulness follow in the wake of the desire to find and use opportunity to create new and better paths.

Seek positive information. Good news is there on every hand for he who is inclined to sort it out from the noise. So is bad news. Positive information is that information which supports positive action. Reach beyond your own sphere and intentionally help someone complete something incomplete or attain something difficult. The belief that nothing matters or can make a difference, the belief in overwhelming dangers when none are presently visible, and the apathetic sense of non-action are dangerous commodities in the markets of human exchange. Those who sell chaos, apathy, and indifference are the drug-[peddlers of the heart.

Drop negative information. Negative attitudes and negative, or threatening communication is for the most part best handled by dropping it right now, cutting the line and declining to invest it with any effort or response. This does not mean hiding from facts. The vast majority of information involves partial facts mixed with opinions or hidden intentions or evaluation biased toward one path or another. When the bias and the intention and the evaluation of information is oriented toward stopping, reducing, lessening, squashing, impoverishing or in any way de-energizing you, drop the phone right there.

Choose core beliefs based on your values. We surprisingly often reduce large areas of thought down to simple summary statements such as our favorite clichés and saws: When in doubt, communicate, or Thinking makes it so. These condensed policy statements for the world are often what we live by. Choose ones you like. Build decisions on the beliefs you have consciously chosen because of your values.

Build the future one day at a time. Do this step now. Rome, the Pyramids and the great fortunes of the world were built taking one step - this one - and actually doing it. If you cannot do it all, and it all must be done, do one thing fully now.

Seek to lead a good life. Simply intending to live a life based on greater values than simply cash-flow will make a difference. A life of comfort is not the same as a good life.

Knowing what you need to do, knowing who you are, you can begin the life-shaping task of deciding to lead a good life. A good life means a life lead by a good person, producing more good int he world than harm.

Search for Truth Canceled

The world’s most senior body of consciousness law-makers have announced today that the search for truth has been canceled world-wide.

In its place, says chairman Lao “Plato” Lee, Chairman of the Consciousness Steering Committee, a more pro-active, sensitive, urgent quest has been named for those inclined to seek beyond the ordinary agreement shells of their mercantile brethren.

“We must give up the Search for Truth. So be it. But in its place, we must demand a wide spread search for better understanding. “

Lee asserted this change was based on heuristic observation that since the only truth there is is the Knower of truth that is within each of us, seeking for truth has degenerated into a sort of spiritual mirror-gazing which diverts, tantalizes and reoccupies the seeker and actually renders him less capable. “Searching for Truth is searching for oneself. And it’s not a project that should take very long, since one need only notice where the desire to find truth lies and one is shaking hands with Truth at that point,.” Lee explained.

Grades In Space

It is awkward to make the transition in understanding of Space. Like responsibility itself, it requires a shift from “This is done to me” to “I can manage what happens” to “I create”. In spatial terms the lowest awareness band, which is found in catatonic solid cases, is “All is a black clump” or the beautiful catastrophe of solid chaos.

As one painfully finds his way through the treacherous bogs of injustice, irresponsibility, enforced reality, undesired communication, and into the higher ground of more rational, and more free, perception, a transition occurs in his or her perception of space. From a black frame filled with mysterious impulses, it gradually assumes three dimensions.

In this perspective of space, false realities and their dark mysteries give way to a clarity and solidity on agreed-upon spaces with solid things of bright colors. Flows are sent back and forth, objects move in recognizable patterns, and if you keep your oil changed, your engine keeps running as it should. Phone calls get logged and checking accounts get balanced and it is all fairly clear, as long as no-one springs open any of the darker wellsprings of tainted awareness that sometimes threaten. Of course the ability to operate normally while holding those dark doors closed is one of the signs of normalcy - the noise stays at bay. One is able to communicate relatively consistently regardless of the potential recreations of chaos which are hidden just below the orchestra pit.

This is a space of energies and flowing streams of things shifting in time and place within acceptable parameters. It is possible to achieve a state of clarity of mind wherein these objects flow more easily, energy is more tolerable, and things seem bright and comfortably real. This is a state of cheerful and energetic extroversion, the above-average human who is alert and aware and in good tune.

Managing an even greater sense of individual breadth and clarity space itself becomes a transparent creation, much like a directors view of a stage-set. Yes, it is an illusion; but having intended it into existence in the first place one can suspend that knowledge to enjoy the creation made feasible by it. Spheres of one or another kind of belief or awareness or intention can be postulated into space because it is one’s own space, not borrowed from the fetid war-chest of the material universe temporarily.

When space is addressed consistently from this level you find somewhat magical things happening - the manifestation of will seems to occur beyond the scope of your immediately traceable influence, and your life takes on a charmed flavor.. It is actually your ability to know by an act of will that has grown. But space itself may very well be nothing more than a by-product of that ability, which dwells in the core being of each of us.

A long, long time ago (1994) a series of essays was posted to the web at a site called The Conscious Explorer. They were raw, often unpolished, direct analyses of various facets of the interface between consciousness and the various vectors in play in the human-occupied physical terrain of existence.

I have been asked many times for further material along this vein, and have finally found some time to respond to those requests.

This Blog will be updated at random intervals with essays extending the original work found in the Conscious Explorer. No guarantees are offered, except that I will offer the best writing on the subject I can come up with, discounting typos.
